| WHY GREEN COFFEE BEANS?! It is the only way to go if you are a coffee fan. Freshly roasted coffee has a much more tantalizing taste and mouth feel than grocery-store coffee and an incredibly irresistable aroma. Roasted beans start to lose their aroma and flavour after just a few days. The small amounts you roast in a hot air popper prevent you from suffering this injustice. And the cost of the popper? ...it pays for itself with the first couple of pounds coffee you roast!

HOW DO YOU ROAST YOUR OWN BEANS? Below is a link to a small video to introduce you to the very simple process of roasting your own beans.
ESPRESSO FAN? Fresh roasted beans provide an incredible crema. No need to cut your favourite espresso blend with acidifying robusta beans for oil content. Nope. Fresh roasted beans are thick with oils. Click the link to the videos further below to see for yourself. My preferred short espresso blend is equal amounts of Brazil Santos, Ethiopian Djimmah and Ethiopian Harrar. My preferred long espresso blend includes those three plus Kenyan, again in equal amounts. I have tried all sorts and keep coming back to those blends. *Hint - keep within a medium to full city roast for your espresso; it makes a world of difference!
WHAT IS ROASTYOUROWN.CA? RoastYourOwn.ca is probably Canada's smallest purveyor of green beans (that's the beauty of the internet!). It serves Canada's National Capital Region. For the time being, bean delivery is based on bringing the beans to the purchaser, not the purchaser to the beans. Home deliveries are five bucks while meeting somewhere in Ottawa or Gatineau for a beer and a bean drop off is free. Deliveries to the homes of homebrewers are free as long as homebrew samples are offered.
